The identity and fate of this particular soldier is currently unknown.

Approximately 100,000 New Zealanders went off overseas to fight in World War 1.  Approximately 18,000 of these never returned home, buried overseas (Ministry for Culture and Heritage, 2016).

Many soldiers had their photo taken before going off to war.  Te Papa is working to identify Wellington soldiers from photographs taken, before going off to war.
